This week the Municipal District of Letterkenny presented prizes to three of Letterkenny’s best kept housing estates with Glendale Drive being announced as winner of the Large Estate category, Cruach Mor winner of the Medium Estate category and Ard na Glaise receiving the award for the Most Improved Estate (Small Estate).

Each year the Council runs a competition for the Best Kept Council Housing Schemes (including Schemes in the former Town Council areas) and the competition is run on a Municipal District basis. Prizes are awarded in the following categories according to merit:
Schemes of 20 houses or less
Schemes of between 21 and 50 houses
Schemes of 51 houses or more
The adjudication of entries took place during the August period and marks are awarded under the following headings:
1. Effort involved.
2. Absence of litter.
3. Planting trees, shrubs, flowers and gardens.
4. Colour and colour harmony.
5. Condition of houses in the Scheme
6. Absence of unsightly objects.
7. Special factors.
The results for the Municipal District of Letterkenny for 2015 are:
Winner of Large Estate:
Glendale Drive, Letterkenny and the representatives from the Residents Association are Mary Conway & Edel McKeown
Winner of Medium Estate:
Cruach Mor, Letterkenny and the representatives from the Residents Association are Fiona McConnell & Caroline Browne
Winner of the Most Improved Estate (Small Estate):
Ard na Glaise, Letterkenny and the representatives from the Residents Association are Maria Murray & Gregory Mendel.
The elected members of Letterkenny Municipal District congratulated all the residents who have taken part in this year’s competition and paid tribute to their hard work and dedication in keeping their housing estates in tip top shape. The Council looks forward to continuing to work with residents and acknowledged the great support that they have received from residents and in particular the representatives of the residents associations.
